Corporate Case Study 1

Client: Infor Global Solutions

Group Size: 100

Date: 10th October 2012

Organiser: Jane

Requirements

Following a hugely successful event at Garlands in 2011, Jane called us in July 2012 to arrange Infor Global Solutions’ annual reward day in October. She wanted the main focus of the day to be on fun and entertainment, with an element of team building. After lots of discussions with Phil, our event manager, we helped Jane decide on a suitable timetable so that everyone would get the most out of their team bonding day.

Itinerary

We divided the group into seven different teams of 13-14 people. To cater for the different ages and physical abilities within the group, we arranged a variety of activities including motor sports, target sports and team building activities. We also planned the day to allow everyone to socialise and work with people that they didn’t usually have day-to-day contact with.

Sequence of events

The group arrived by coach and were welcomed by our friendly instructors at 9.30am. Everyone was given a team number and then they helped themselves to tea and coffee. Once everyone had registered, they had a welcoming brief from Mark, our Operations Manager. The briefing outlined health and safety, how the day was going to run and gave everyone a chance to ask questions. At 9.45am, the individual instructors lead their teams to the first of their three activities. With larger groups like this one, the instructors had to work hard to ensure no one was left behind or not properly briefed, but with years of experience under our belts, everything was as smooth as clockwork.

Catering

At 1.30pm the groups came back to the lodge for a lunch of pork, stuffing, apple sauce and chips, and everyone compared notes about their morning activities. When everyone had finished, they were raring to get back outside for a challenging and fun afternoon.

Overall Experience

We always make sure the teams have lots of fun, but we also believe that a bit of healthy competition really helps make the day. That’s why we always have a presentation where medals are awarded to the individuals or teams that have shone in each activity. The Infor group really got into the swing of it, applauding their team members after a great day. The feedback below says it all.

“Think a few people are aching today! But was a brilliant day thank you! And I think I’ve realised after the 4X4 I won’t be driving any time soon!! Ha x”
